Straight from the swimming jack-asses mouth, in an interview covered by CNN after the completion of his suspension from competitive swimming...Michael Phelps spoke about the photo of him holding a bong which landed him the suspension, saying it was "bad judgement, and a very-stupid mistake". For his part in allowing it to be posted online, it was a very stupid mistake. Now apparently he wants to save everyone else from the harms of experimental drug use, especially marijuana. Well I hate to be the one to remind Mr. Phelps that the picture was taken a few years prior to him winning 8 Gold Medals in the Bejing Olympics, so smoking marijuana obviously didnt harm his body or lung capacity but SO much...He could easily have been honest and truthful about smoking marijuana and joined the long list of celebrities, actors, and professional athletes that enjoy smoking marijuaa recreationally. But he over-corrected his position so much that he ran off the road, (so to speak.)
In my blog he gets two thumbs down - It's bad enough he got caught in a lie, better to come clean and be honest, then to tell another lie. Boo on you Phelps

Three weeks ago a preliminary study was released, that showed that marijuana use leads to an increased risk of Testicular cancer. I forget the journal, I think it was "Cancer" or "Chest" or something. Not sure, don't feel like looking it up but it was only a prelim study. As far as marijuna not harming people....it does affect people adversely when you smoke pot. The whole couch sitting, not in the correct frame of mind. etc. Great for if you are a video gamer tester though. I think Marijuana should be regulated so that people who are not in a sober state from it, should be treated as if they were not sober from use of alcohol. Which also, adversely affects you economically. But everyone loves alcohol, and we don't want that criminalized. So not quite as simple a thing as to say legalize it, but I think we are wasting alot of money by incarcerating individuals with pot offenses. Also, why is pot funny? It is like potty jokes for teenagers....
ReplyDeleteI read that study on cancer as well; however, I no longer take a study based on merit alone. There have been 'studys' that have been reputed months later by the same University. Studys' come and go, but facts remain, compared to alcohol, marijuana is much safer, healthier, and less addictive than alcohol. As for driving, there have been several studies that concluded that although some marijuana users become partially impaired while driving, those on marijuana were found to be much more self-aware of their current condition/impairment; where as those consuming alcohol were 3 times more likely to deny any kind of self-awareness to their impaired abilities. Full out legalization will never work. It has to be taxed, inspected, and regulated just as alcohol and tobacco are legal to ADULTS 18 and over. When it comes down to it, its all about the money. As long as Uncle Sam has his hand in the cookie jar, the cookies can be legally sold and distributed.
